Diffuse pattern of growth. Cells are medium to large with high N:C ratio, irregular nuclear contours, and oesinophilic nucleoli. Image
IHC shows tumor cells positive for CD20, CD79a, and CD45. Proliferation index is around 70%. Flow cytometry shows a B-cell population with light chain restriction.
Lymphomas are the most common malignancy of the spleen. Usually the spleen is involved secondary to generatlized lymphoproliferative disorder, but occasionally, as seen with splenic marginal zone lymphoma, it may be localized.
