Elastofibromas classically occur on the backs (subscapular region) of older women. These lesions are assumed to be reactive i.e. due to trauma.
Microscopically, there are serrated, eosinophilic elastic fibers that have a beaded appearance, which are interwined with eosinophilic collagen.
