CLINICAL

polypoid submucosal mass, may even present with airway obstruction or hemoptysis; 3-4 x more common in women; usually 4-6th decade of life; somewhat of a predilection for the posterior wall of trachea

TREATMENT

complete excision; pre-op embolization to devascularize the tumor may be helpful

PROGNOSIS

most often benign, but may recur, 2% behave in a malignant fashion
