At low power, there is a proliferation of smooth muscle cells.

Vascular leiomyomas are also known as angiomyomas or angioleiomyomas. They form from the smooth muscle of blood vessels. Along with traumatic neuroma, glomus tumor, eccrine spiradenoma and angioliopma, vascular leiomyomas are the classic five painful nodules of the skin and soft tissues (Rosai, 2297).

More frequent in females and the preferential location is the lower limbs.

Benign; excision is curative.
